National Three Peaks Challenge
Take on one of the toughest walking challenges available in the UK as you scale the tallest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales. Scafell Pike, Snowdon and Ben Nevis provide the backdrop and the road for your expedition, accompanied by your Three Peaks Challenge walking guide; Orange John (or one of his trusted fellow team leaders). Together, we’ll tackle this challenge, whether you’re an individual or a larger group, ascending over 10,000 feet! Depending on the route we take, you’ll hike between 23 and 25 miles. It’s challenging (as it should be!) but, with a decent level of fitness and a desire to succeed, you’ll make it.

Goody Bag

Please Note
Your guide on the day could withdraw you from the event, if they deem you not physically fit enough to complete it, or if you are unable to keep apace in order to complete a time challenge. Some events are weather dependent. If your guide believes that inclement weather could pose a threat to the hikers in the party, we reserve the right to cancel the expedition.
How many guides accompany the group?
Your group will be accompanied by 1 guide per every 10 people undertaking the challenge.
What is the walking pace?
Please remember this is a timed challenge, the guide will set the pace to get you around in that time. If you can't maintain the pace the guide may withdraw you in order for others to complete the challenge.
Which is more difficult – National or Yorkshire Three Peaks?
Previous participants say this is 50 /50 but some find the national harder while some find the Yorkshire Three Peaks harder.
Can I bring my dog?
National Three Peaks - No you cannot bring your dog. Yorkshire Three Peaks - Although we generally advise against bringing dogs with you, please get in touch to check with us first
I have a medical condition – can I still take part?
Please take advice from your doctor or GP. That very much depends on what the medical condition is. Whether or not you can participate is also at the discretion of your guide, so please get in touch to discuss things further!
Is there any rock climbing or scrambling on the route?
No – there are a few rocky steps here and there but nothing that would be classed as “rock climbing” and nothing that would require harnesses or similar equipment.
Do I need to wear walking boots?
Absolutely. The terrain is rocky and slippery when wet. Walking boots with firm ankle support are a necessity for you to safely undertake either of these walking challenges. Without the appropriate footwear, you may be refused participation.
How much water should I bring?
Depending on how much you tend to drink while exercising, we recommend bringing 2-4 litres.
What training should be done before the challenge?
We suggest any kind of cardiovascular and endurance activity, such as walking, running, swimming, cycling and other such activities. The fitter you are, the more enjoyment you’ll gain from the challenge.
What do we get after completing the challenge?
You will receive a mystery goody bag, as well as the feeling of accomplishment that comes with finishing!
